The Amazing Splendor of the United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is composed of seven emirates or sheikdoms, separated from each other by the Persian Gulf. The emirates are near Iran and Saudi Arabia. This Middle Eastern country is the world’s fourth largest producer of oil and one of the booming economies.

However, oil consumption is not the reason why many travelers visit the emirates. For many, it is the product of the rich oil industry that keeps them coming back to the country. Some of these are duty-free shopping, glitzy nightlife and record-holding skyscrapers.

Inside the Emirates

The flashy Dubai city is famous for glitzy nightlife and duty-free shopping. This sheikdom is the second largest in the kingdom and it is too hard not to spend money in this emirate. Widen your knowledge about this country by visiting the Dubai Museum which is the city’s oldest building. The museum, situated in the Al-Fahidi Fort, is full of cultural and social history. Here you will get a chance to learn more about the music, dance, weaponry, commerce and the daily life of locals. Outside of the museum you will find the grounds surrounded by flora and fauna representing the Bedouin lifestyle.

Buaimi Oasis’ main town of Al-Ain still shows remnants of the Oman influence. Here you will find the Al-Ain Museum which provides a glimpse of the life before the discovery of oil in the country. Bedouin jewelry, instruments and weaponry are also on display. Near the museum is the Buraimi Souk which has open market stalls offering fresh vegetables and fruits. Nearby is the livestock market selling the best goats and sheep available.

Get awed and dazzled by the glitters of diamonds at the Diera Gold Souk near Dubai’s Sikkat al-Khali. The area offers a wide array of jewels in various colors and sizes, from single stones to Indian and Arabian wedding necklaces, head dresses and bangles.

The Liwa Oasis is fast becoming a favorite weekend getaway for both locals and tourists. Over 90 miles of farm lands stretch to the horizons, interspersed with breathtaking scenery, sand dunes and grazing camels under the roof of starry night skies.
