Taiwan: A Diverse Country Fit for Rest and Relaxation

In 1949, Taiwan found its independence from China. But the country and its people still hold on to their Chinese root. The National Palace and the Palace Museum in Beijing’s Forbidden City are originally part of the museum that was divided in the 1920s during the Chinese Civil War.

The museum opened in 1965 but it could not display the entire collection because of lack of space. Some of the world-famous artifacts are the exquisitely carved and beautiful Olive-stone boat and the Jade Cabbage which is carved to look like a Napa Cabbage.

Near the museum are the Formosan Aborigines’ Shung Ye Museum, Martyrs’ Shrine, Yangminshan National Park and the Shilin Night Market. And in visiting Taipei, you could never miss the Taipei 101 which is an internationally famous attraction. This building stands 1,667 feet, 1.5 times higher than Eiffel Tower.

For more of the natural part of your journey to Taiwan, head over to the Puli which is located right in the middle of the country. This is a good place to start exploring the Sun Moon Lake and the central mountains. The beautiful blue lake is one of the popular attractions in Taiwan. Surrounded by magnificent green mountains, the lake’s western portion looks like a crescent moon while the eastern portion is shaped like the sun. An island is situated in the center which is regarded by the Shao people as sacred. The lake is surrounded by seven hiking trails with Dachuchu Lake Trail and Hanbi Trail as the most popular.
