There are several transportation options from which to choose for traveling around Saint Kitts and Nevis. Taxis with fixed fares will take you from the airport to the downtown area, or you can contact car companies such as Avis, Sunshine, and TDC for their free airport pickup service.

It is also a good idea to hire a rental car to explore the island's attractions. However, keep in mind that if you want to drive the rental car yourself, you will need to acquire a temporary driving license first.

You can use the local bus service if you are not keeping a strict timetable since the buses tend to operate on a sporadic schedule. The best times to take the bus are in the mornings and afternoons.

Taxis, except for those at the airport and ferry terminals, are not metered. The local taxi drivers also act as informal tourist guides and take you to the best places to visit.

You can also hire mountain bikes and all-terrain vehicles to go around the islands. This would be the best form of transportation to visit some areas of this volcanic destination.

Saint Kitts and Nevis Entry Requirements

Individuals who hold valid American passports do not require a visa to enter Saint Kitts and Nevis if they are staying for less than three months. However, all travellers should be able to show confirmed onward or return tickets, plus enough funds to sustain them during their stay. There may be some appearance requirements too -- dreadlocks, for example, are frowned upon -- so an application for this sort of thing should be lodged prior to arrival.
