The Amazing Wildlife of Kenya: A Reason to Travel

Lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes, rhinos and zebras. You name the animal you want to see and for sure, Kenya has it. Many travelers booking their flights to Kenya expect to see an amazing collection of wildlife. The country is known for its safaris and a plethora of national parks and national reserves which are home to hundreds of animals.

The parks in Kenya are preserved to allow animals of different kinds to roam freely. Even the aquatic life in this country is also protected. Kenya is situated on Africa’s eastern coast, near Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, Ethiopia, the Indian Ocean and Uganda. One of the greatest geological sites, the Rift Valley, runs from Syria to the East Africa and Red Sea to the southern portion of Africa and into Kenya.

Inside Kenya

Traveling to Kenya, you will be enveloped in the Swahili language and culture and the different religious practices of the locals. The country is not known only for its amazing wildlife and safaris but also for its miles and miles of pristine, white beaches and stunning coral reefs.

Mombasa is a coastal city that provides the best resorts and lifetime memories for travelers. The Coral Palm Beach and its white sand are divided into public and private section. On the northern side of the city is Malindi town which is a favorite destination of Italian travelers who are looking for quality rest and relaxation. The town offers a lot to tourists with its markets, museums and mosques dotting the coastline. Get to see the coral reef when the tide is low or head off to place where Portuguese explorer Vasco de Gama first came ashore.

In the northwest side of Kenya is the Masai Mara reserve. This game park has a collection of a large number of animals which are confined in a small space. You can indulge in a balloon safari and see the lions, elephants, leopards, buffalos, rhinoceros, cheetah, zebras, giraffes and many more.

Nairobi city is where you can find a fusion of cultures. Travelers walking among Masai warriors, participating in lively night events and dining in outdoor restaurants are a common sight in this city. When in the city, do not miss to visit the Karen Blixen Museum which is an attractive recreation of the home where Danish author Blixen used to lived.

Planning Your Trip to Kenya

Plan your trip to Kenya from June to September when the yearly migration of animals across Maasai Mara’s plains takes place. This is the best time for safaris. However, do not expect to find cheap fares and accommodations during this season.

If you want cheap flights and hotel accommodations, time your visit to Kenya during the rainy months of April to June. You can still many animals and experience the thrill of diving and attractions provided by mountains and ancient tribes.

Getting between cities and short distances could best be done on minibuses, called matutas. You also have the option to rent a car or hire a taxi.
