Dominican Republic: A Perfect Getaway

If you are looking for an extraordinary vacation without spending so much, then Dominican Republic is the answer for your quest. Travelers to the country are greeted with breathtaking sights of endless sugar-white and powdery-fine beaches, captivating landscapes and lively Latin American music.

The Dominican Republic is known for its hospitable people and great opportunities for visitors. Low-cost flights to the country are abundant and easy to find.

Opportunities for Travelers

There is no shortage of tourist activities in the country. You can start exploring the country in one of the oldest European city, the Santo Domingo. The city plays host to a big shopping bazaar where travelers could browse and buy local artifacts and jewelry, hand-wrapped cigar or landscape paintings.

The National Park Isla Cabritos is where you can find one of the biggest American crocodile population in the world. The island is situated near the center of Lake Enriguillo. If you want sun and music, visit the Punta Cana region where white-sand beaches worthy of being featured in a postcard could be seen. At night, you get to drink and dance at various all-inclusive resorts and bars in the area.

The over 560-mile Jaragua national park is also worth a visit. There you can find over 130 bird species, including pink flamingos. Children would squeal in delight if you bring them to the Manati Park where they get to see the dolphins and Taino dancing.

Dive spots in the country are famous internationally. The southern coast boosts of warm water and nearly-perfect visibility while the north coast area is famous for its shipwrecks.

Weather and Travel Information

The Dominican Republic is blessed with a predictable climate. The locals get to enjoy a warm tropical weather all year round, with temperatures averaging about 86-degree Fahrenheit. Because of the great weather, any day is a good time to travel to the Dominican Republic.

From October to May, the north coast area experiences some rain which is experienced also in the south coast between May to October. This means that you can always find a sunny beach for the most part of the year in the Dominican Republic.

Discounted air fares and hotel rates could be had after Easter holidays when only few invade the country. Many tourists also avoid traveling during the hurricane season which is from June to November.

Inside the Dominican Republic

Seven international airports are scattered around the country. Getting around the region is easier and quicker if you board the Air Santo Domingo flights which are cheap and dependable. You can also take the air-conditioned bus which is inexpensive. Tourist taxis are also available from airports to towns. However, be warned that taxi fares do not come cheap. And so do car rentals.

U.S. citizens are required to get tourist cards upon arrival in the Dominican Republic.
