Cayman Islands: A Mix of Business and Beaches

Located near the eastern end of the United States, right between Jamaica and Cuba, is the three islands of Cayman. Little Cayman, Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac, collectively known as the Cayman Islands, are famous for their thriving businesses and pristine, fine-sand white beaches.

Home to almost 500 banks, the Grand Cayman is also the site of some of the breathtaking beaches. Many travelers who happened to do some business in the area could be seen frolicking under the sun or swimming on the blue waters of Grand Cayman.

Travelers who prefer to enjoy the sun and sea in a more laid-back environment head off 70 miles from the Grand Cayman to Cayman Brac or Little Cayman where they could relax minus the hustle and bustle lifestyle that tourists may experience in the main island of Cayman.

Attractions at Cayman Islands

Cayman Islands is known for its excellent dive spots such as Bloody Bay Marine Park near Little Cayman's north shore. Another favorite destination of tourists in the Cayman is the Seven Mile Beach located in the main island of Grand Cayman. The beach, with its white, fine sand, is very popular among tourists. In fact, it is the first place that tourists head off to as soon as their cruise ships dock.

If you want to avoid the crowd at the main beach in Grand Cayman, an alternative would be the Rum Point where even children can go swimming on its shallow waters. You can play volleyball at the beach or spend a lazy afternoon on the hammock reading your favorite book while sipping cocktail ordered from a nearby beach bar.

Weddings and honeymoons travel are also reasons why tourism in the Cayman Islands is thriving. White sand beaches against the backdrop of palm trees and guaranteed sunshine make the islands a romantic place for couples to commit to love each other till death do they part.

Best Time to Travel to the Islands

Peak travel season in Cayman Islands are from December to April. If you are planning a trip to the islands around these months, you should book your flight to Cayman Islands and hotel accommodations ahead of time as airline prices tend to rise during the peak travel season. Similarly, hotel rates are also at their highest during peak season.

You can find cheap flights and accommodations during rainy season which is between May to November. The sporadic, short burst of rain could still allow you to enjoy a less crowded beach. However, this is also a season for hurricanes so it is advisable that you are well-informed about the weather in the area days before your scheduled departure.

Going Around the Islands

Charter flights are available for those who want to go from one island to another. While in the island, you can go around in a taxi or public minibus. But the easiest and fastest way to explore the island is by renting a car.

All American citizens need only proof of citizenship to make an entry into the Cayman Islands. Visa is required only for stays of more than six months.
