Bermuda: A Perfect Way to Relax and Enjoy

There is a reason why Bermuda shorts are synonymous to casual lifestyle. The country where the shorts originated is famous for its fun and recreation and easy way of living. You can see visiting businessmen in Bermuda wearing the shorts over a shirt, tie and blazer.

Bermuda, before it gained its status as one of the countries in North America, was used by Spaniards and Portuguese as replenishment place for fresh water and meat. Sailors were discouraged to call the country their home because of storms and legends of devils and spirits that hound the island. It was in mid-1600s that a settlement was started in Bermuda.

Tourist Destinations

Today, Bermuda is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. The country gained this prestige due to the beauty of its underwater which is full of spectacular coral reefs and rich ship wrecks.

The best dive spot in North America for scuba divers is located in Bermuda where divers could explore undersea caves and swim with schools of fish. Snorkelers and divers could get busy exploring the over 400 wreck sites around Bermuda and get acquainted with underwater life. If they are lucky, they could get to see the seven species of sea turtles that Bermuda is keeping on its waters.

If you are not into underwater adventure, you can explore the many historic attractions that Bermuda has, including the lighthouses, Crystal Caves, Botanical Gardens, Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute and Royal Navy Dockyard and Museum. Or you can opt to stroll along the public beaches with their famous shining pink sand.

Weather in Bermuda

Bermuda has a temperate climate with winter temperature averaging 68 degrees Fahrenheit and summer weather reaching 86 degrees Fahrenheit. The months from April to October are the peak season for travelers because the sea temperature is very conducive for swimming. If you are planning to travel to the country during the peak season, you should book your flights to Bermuda and accommodation in advance.

Flights and Transportation

Cheap flights tickets and cheap hotel rates are available during off-peak season. Rain can sometimes occur during off season months but heavy showers do not happen often so you can still enjoy playing golf or tennis.

Hamilton is the main town in the country where one can eat and drink in its many restaurants and browse its numerous museums and galleries. The town has a certain charming quaintness brought about by seafront buildings all painted in white, blue or pink.

Going around Bermuda is easily done by ferry, taxi, bus or moped. Riding the ferries is the most relaxing and enjoyable way to explore the island as you get to see the spectacular views comfortably. Riding the moped can be fun too but you must be aware of the sharp turns on the roads to avoid any accident.

All U.S. citizens are not required to have passports when going to Bermuda. Additionally, visa is not a requirement for stays of no more than six months.
